Why choose Paul Fell Eyecare

Therapeutically endorsed optometrist Jai Bakshi leads our day-to-day clinical care, supported by founder Paul Fell and an experienced optical team. We combine thorough, personalised eye examinations with advanced diagnostic technology, carefully selected frames and premium lens options. We take the time to explain our recommendations, and we adjust and fit your glasses as often as you need, for as long as you have them, at no charge.

What an appointment involves

A comprehensive eye test takes about 30 minutes with Paul Fell or Jai Bakshi. We check how well you see at distance and up close, how your eyes work together and how they focus, and we measure eye pressure and examine the optic nerve. Most tests here also include an OCT scan and a widefield retinal photograph — a cross-section through the layers of your retina, and a wide view of its surface — and both are kept on file so next time we have something to compare against.

You will leave knowing what we found and what it means. If you need glasses, our dispensing team helps you choose frames and lenses, and we adjust and fit them as often as you need afterwards, at no charge.

Who we see

Children coming in for a first eye test, adults who have worn glasses for forty years, and people managing glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and dry eye. Jai is therapeutically endorsed, which means he can prescribe treatment for eye conditions rather than referring every case on. Eye tests are bulk billed to Medicare for anyone under 25. For everyone else a comprehensive test is $50, or $145 without a Medicare card.

An independent practice

Paul Fell Eyecare has been part of Forest Lake since 1999, and is independently owned. Paul founded the practice and still consults, Sharon looks after frames, Jai leads day-to-day clinical care, and you tend to see the same faces each visit. Being independent means we choose our own equipment and lens suppliers.
